Lunar corona around a Full Moon. This phenomenon is caused by the diffraction of the moonlight by water droplets or ice crystals in the air. Coronas are produced by high thin clouds, and are much smaller than other optical phenomena such as halos. Mars can be seen as a small orange dot to the lower right of the Moon.
