Spiral galaxy NGC 6496, known as the Fireworks Galaxy, photographed on 28 May 2017. It is around 25.2 million light-years away from Earth between the constellations Cepheus and Cygnus (the Swan). The name Fireworks Galaxy derives from the fact that 10 supernovae have been observed in this galaxy in the last century. For reference, the Milky Way averages just two per century.
