Flint arrowhead found at a burial site in the Gava variscite mines, which were active between 4200 and 3400 BCE (Neolithic period), in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Variscite is a semi-precious green mineral which was used to make jewellery and was traded across the Western Mediterranean. Some chambers of the mine which were exhausted of variscite were repurposed for burials, and objects such as this arrowheads have been found buried alongside people. Disparity between the locations and care taken in burials suggest a class structure may have operated in the society that existed here.
