Henry Blunt's model of craters on the Moon, 1849. This model shows the large lunar crater named Eratosthenes (59 kilometres across). The accompanying text identifies the model as a work of the British chemist and amateur astronomer Henry Blunt (1806-1853), with his observations of the Moon made with a Newtonian telescope from Shrewsbury and published in 1849. A version of this model was displayed in 1851 at The Great Exhibition in London.
