Fingerprint detection. Forensic scientist using the vacuum metallization technique to check a surface for fingerprints. The technique covers the surface in a very fine layer of metal atoms, making previously invisible prints detectable. This method can be used to detect prints on any surface. Fingerprints are unique to every individual and can thus be used to determine who has handled the items being tested.
