This plant virus is a monogeminivirus, and has a DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) genome. It was first identified in 1901 in the maize plant (Zea mays), one of the world's major food crops. This virus also infects a wide range of other plants, including the crop plants rye, wheat, barley, and sorghum. Symptoms are white streaks and lesions. The virus is transmitted by several species of leafhopper insects. It is found in Africa and India. Magnification: x125,000 when printed 10cm high.
