Red grouse (Lagopus lagopus scoticus). A member of the Galliformes order, the red grouse is a British subspecies of Willow Grouse (Lagopus lagopus) that lives on moorland. It is a medium sized game bird with red plumage. The loss of heather moorland in Britain is contributing to a decline in population numbers. Photographed in the Scottish Highlands, UK.
