The Museum Wormianum of Ole Worm, engraved plate. This illustration depicts the Museum Wormianum, a natural history collection or 'cabinet of curiosities' belonging to the Danish Professor Ole Worm (1588-1654) of the University of Copenhagen. Apart from idle curiosity of the public, the museum served as a specimen collection for Worm's lectures on medicine and anatomy. This engraving by Wingendorp appears in the book Ole Worm's Museum Wormianum, published at Amsterdam in 1655.
