A boulder of pink sandstone conglomerate is caught between the walls of a sedimentary drainage, 'slot canyon'. Not the place to stand when something large enough to dislodge this guy comes along. Such defiles claim lives too regularly in the canyonlands of the Southwest, where storms over the horizon can send torrents of water 'out of nowhere'.
