Aratus Cilis, astronomer. This woodcut was made by Albrecht Durer in 1515. Aratus (310-240 Century BC) was born in Soli in Cilicia and was a Macedonian astronomer and poet. His principal work was the Phaenomen, composed of 1,154 hexameters. The first section of this book describes the movements of planets and stars.
