Oxazepam blister pack. This medicine is used in the short term treatment of anxiety. It belongs to a class of drugs known as benzodiazepines. It causes the release of GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) in the brain which has an inhibitory effect on the functioning of certain areas. This results in a decrease in anxiety and induces sleepiness and relaxation of muscles. It is not recommended for long-term treatment of anxiety because of the danger of developing dependence.
