Eye-contact with computers. Media Lab researcher Joshua Bers wears a head-mounted eye-tracker that allows a computer to monitor his gaze. The aim of Bers's research is to make it possible for us to communicate with computers just as we would with people: through speech, gestures and eye-contact. If successful his project could make computer key- boards and mice a thing of the past. The Media Lab was set up in 1985 at the USA's Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It carries out cutting- edge research into new ways of interacting with the information superhighway"-delivered computer- ised media of the future."
