Electrocuted rook. Birds are generally able to perch safely on power lines without being electrocuted as long as they do not touch separate cables and short circuit the electric current. This rook (Corvus frugilegus) was unable to maintain its grip. Swinging upside down it died as the power shorted out across its body. It remained in place for several hours as the feet retained their grip.
