Prehistoric cave bear skeleton. Fossilised skeleton of an Ursus spelaeus cave bear. This cave bear lived in Europe during the Pleistocene period (around 250,000 to 27,500 years ago). It is thought to have been largely herbivorous, though sometimes scavenging may have occurred. Specimen from Prince Cave, Balzi Rossi, Liguria, Italy.
