Hodgkin's disease. 19th-century view of a patient with extreme swelling and cancerous growth of the lymph glands in Hodgkin's disease (lymphadenoma). Also called Hodgkin's lymphoma, this is a malignant (cancerous) tumor (neoplasm) that develops in the lymphoreticular system. There are four histological forms of the disease each with a different prognosis and level of aggression. Photograph from 'Atlas of Clinical Medicine' (1892) by Scottish pathologist Byrom Bramwell (1847-1931).
