PALMISTRY Example of late mediaeval palmistry - three diagrams depicting the relationship of the three main lines in relation to stupid and insane people. From Johannes Taisniers, Absolutissimae Chyromantiae, 1632. [Left diagram] the faint lines running up the lower phalange of the lower finger is taken as a sign of a poor intellect. [Middle diagram] when the three lines that form the triangulum of the hand do not meet, then this is taken as a sign of a stupid person. [Right diagram] when the top of the Life line does not join with the Head line, the individual is given to pointless speech.
