SYMBOLS - THE SACRED TRIAD An engraving of a design devised by the occultist Robert Fludd, to illustrate the properties and musical harmonies of the Trinity. The Triangle of the Godhead, which is a Three in One, is expressed in light emerging into the darkness of Matter (Hyle). The consequence of this merging of light and darkness is the creation of three worlds (the circles that touch the three lines of the larger triangle: these are the Angelic World, the Stellar World, and the Elementary World. The innermost triangle is united to the outermost by musical intervals (the Diapente and the Diatesseron), and in this smaller triangle is the three-letter name of God, Iod-He-Vau-He (the fourth He is a repeat). From Robert Fludd, Utriusque Cosmi Maioris - De Supernaturali, Naturali, Praeternatuali, etc. 1619.
