Leuk; Switzerland; charnel with plague crucifix (Pestkreuz). The charnel is underneath the parish church. It was reconstructed in the twentieth century; and in the remains under the church a large plague crucifix was found; a devotional item showing Christ with large skin lesions; to liken his suffering to plague victims and thus console them. This was placed in the center of the display. The charnel takes up one half of the basement; the other half serving as funerary chapel. Photo 2009.
