Les Halles at night on the covered through roads linking Baltard pavilions numbers 3, 4, 5 and 6. Temperature controlled refrigerated trailers, trucks and lorries are parked whilst delivering to the meat pavilions. Two delivery lorries in the foreground - Saviem and Rochet-Schneider - were both made by French manufacturers. One has a sign "Viandes" for meat and another sign "Seine" denoting the enormous French department consisting of the city of Paris and huge suburbs (abolished in 1968). The screens behind them are white to reflect the light back into the butchers' lorries. Inside the Baltard pavilions, Rue Baltard, Quartier des Halles, 1er arrondissement, Right Bank, Paris, France, circa 1960s.
