Diplomatic Corps walk in funeral procession of German Ambassador . Members of the Diplomatic Corps in London walked in the funeral procession of the German Ambassado , Dr Leopold von Hoesch , from the German Embassy in Carlton House Terrace to Victoria Station where the body was entrained for Dover to be taken to Ilhelmshaven aboard the destoyer HMS Scout ( H51 ) . A troop of the Royal Horse Guards , two companies , the band and drums of the Grenadier Guards proceded the gun carriage in the procession through the streets . Dr von Hoesch , died on Good Friday , following a heart attack , at the age of 54 . He was a bachelor and had been closely concerned with diplomatic affairs in Paris and London since 1921 . He served his country in many capitals of Europe and the East before returning to London as Ambassador .
