Russian ships rendezvous in the Thames. Transferring 750 Spanish refugees. The Russian passenger vessel Cooperatzin (3767 tons) are arrived in the Thames at Gravesend with 1400 Spanish refugees on board to keep a rendezvous with her sister ship, the Felix Dzerjinsky. According to arrangements made by Arcos, Russia's trade representatives in England, 750 refugees were to be transferred to the Felix Dzerjinsky as the ships were lashed together in midstream, and both vessels with them at once sale for Leningrad. The transfer was intended to ensure greater comfort on the voyage to Russia, Cooperatzia has accommodation for only 100 passengers. The Cooperatzia's refugees are stated to comprise mainly women and children, but has been rumoured that a number of the passengers are Russian fighting men returning from the Spanish fronts.
