Kaiser Otto 's latest Austrian private army-Elite Corps to put down opposition, big propaganda drive. With Austrian Monarchist meetings being arranged all over Austria as part of a great propaganda drive for the restoration of the Hapsburgs in the person of Archduke Otto, the Austrian Legitimist have formed a new uniformed corps whose special duty will be the suppression of disturbances and opposition. The new corps has been named the Iron Legion (Eiserne Legion) and is organised and led by a former member of Hitler's Black Guards. The Legion at present numbers about 150 youthful, smartly uniformed members, several of whom are former Nazi Black Guards. The members receive special training in handling Street mobs and in raiding the houses of their Nazi, Communist and Socialist opponents. The Iron Guard is actually an offshoot of the Austrian Society (Reichsbund der Osterreicher) , whose duty it is to supply 'military defence' for the Iron Ring (Eiserne Ring), another Monarchist organisation which specialises in organising propaganda meetings. Photo shows, members of the Iron Legion learning how to use truncheons against a street mob at the Legions Officers training school in Vienna. The 'mob' consist of other members of the Legion. 12 January 1938
