After attending the funeral of his father-in-law, Sir Gervase Beckett, at Golders Green Crematorium, Mr Anthony Eden the Foreign Minister and his brother Sir Timothy Eden went to the Foreign Office where he received, Mr. Shigeru Yoshida, the Japanese Ambassador, on the subject of the shooting of Sir Hughe Knatchbull-Hugessen, the British Ambassador in China. 27 August 1937
