Francois Paul. Comte De Bruevs D'Aigalliers, 1753-1798 Was of a noble family of Languedoc. Entered the French Navy at the age of 13; lieutenant 1780; took part, under de Grasse, in the battles between that admiral and Hood and Rodney. Commander 1784, captain 1792, rear-admiral 1796, vice admiral 1798. Under his command in 1798 were the rear -admirals Vileneuve Blanquet Duchayla and Decres. He was killed on board the orient in the Battle of the Nile.
