By their courtesy and good humour the British soldiers sent to the Saar have succeeded in breaking down the initial antagonism of their hosts - the band of the 1st Battalion Essex Regiment actually entertained the residents of Neunkirchen by playing in the market square of the town for two hours - the performance delighted th audience which soon grew into a large crowd - photo shows the band of the 1st Battalion Essex Regiment playing to the people of Neunkirchen in the market square December 27th 1934
