A Southern Railway Channel steamer, leaving Jersey for Southampton in mist and driving rain, struck a rock and was badly holed outside St Helier Harbour, near the Elizabeth Castle breakwater. Looking badly in the forepart, she limped back to Jersey Harbour, where her passengers were disembarked. Several resumed their journey to Southampton aboard a tomato cargo steamer. Photo shows the Marino in dry dock at Jersey after she had limped back to port. October 24th 1935
