When war broke out, Britain's numerous art treasures were at once evacuated from the museums, libraries and picture galleries to places of greater safety. Most of the pictures were sent to specially construction air raid shelter in the heart of the mountains somewhere in the British Isles. This picture shows another keeper replacing a painting which had been taken down for periodic examinations. Below it can be seen the famous Rembrandt Van Rijn portrait of his wife, Saskia which was recently purchased by the National Gallery of England.
