The open deck of a tug just outside British territorial waters was the scene of the wedding of Norwegian couple Johanna Aunne and Wolhart Nilsen. The unusual ceremony took place because the wedding could not take place in England without the attendance of an English registrar. The Norwegian Minister conducted the wedding at sea. Several guests besides the bride lost the happy look associated with weddings as the vessel ditched in a moderate swell. 11 August 1947
