Crime is pinned to the wall on these huge maps now in operation at Scotland Yard to keep a minute by minute check on London's criminals. Different coloured flags are posted on the maps to indicate the scene of a crime as soon as it is notified, and other flags are used to indicate accidents. The maps are of Greater London and have a scale of 25 inches to the mile. 12 August 1947
