After a four-day journey by a invalid carriage from her Sunderland home, 18-year-old infantile paralysis cripple Miss Marie Anderson arrived sunburnt and smiling, in London tonight. She had high praise for the courtesy and kindness she had met on a 300 mile route and spoke of the presents of fruit and cups of tea, given her on her way down the country. During a stop at Peterborough on Tuesday night, Miss Anderson heard by telegram of her success in the high school certificate. She looks to start a teachers training course at Hull University in October. After a week in London, Miss Anderson will head her chair for Salisbury, Wilt., to visit friends before returning to Sunderland.. Picture shows: the end of the last lap. Miss Marie Anderson waves hello to London as she rides down Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park, to complete a long journey tonight. 27 August 1947
