In southern Malawi, the erosion-resistant rock of Mulanje Massif (right of centre), a large mountain mass, rises above the landscape near Lake Chilwa (top centre), a shallow, saline lake. The upper slopes of the massif are protected forest. The deep green colour south of the massif marks the location of tea and macadamia farms.
