A model of a Chinese Shenzhou manned spacecraft being launched by a Long March (CZ-2F) rocket. The model, which hangs from the ceiling in the China Science and Technology Museum in Beijing, China, shows the Shenzhou with deployed solar arrays being released from the payload fairing of the launch vehicle. In reality, the different launch phases depicted happen in sequence: the boosters attached to the first stage (bottom right) are jettisoned; the second stage continues to lift the payload towards orbit; the escape rocket system (top left) and the fairing are jettisoned once the rocket has left the atmosphere; the Shenzhou spacecraft is separated when the rocket have finished firing and its arrays are deployed once it is safely in orbit.
