The Water Strider (Gerris remigis) moves by making rowing motions with its middle legs. The hind legs steer the creature while the forelegs are used for catching prey. Its body is covered with silver, water repellent hairs. Water Striders live on the surface of slow streams, ponds, lakes, and other still bodies of water feeding on living or dead insects. They have a sharp mouth part called a rostrum which they use to suck body juices fro their prey.
