Reindeer Moss (Cladonia rangiferina) is a light colored fruticose lichen of the Cladoniaceae family. It grows in open, well-drained environments such as areas of alpine tundra. It is extremely tolerant of very low temperatures but thrives in hot climates as well. This lichen is a food source for Reindeer and Caribou, as well as the inland Dena'ina. These lichens were found in Chequamegon National Forest in Taylor County, Wisconsin.
