Polonium (atomic number: 84, symbol: po) has more isotopes than any other element and is closely related chemically to bismuth and tellurium. This radioactive metalloid is used as a heat source for thermoelectric power in space satellites, as a neutron source, for eliminating static charges in textile mills, and on brushes for removing dust from photographic films. An isotope of polonium, Polonium-210, was used to poison Alexander Litvinenko, a former member of the Soviet KGB. He died in London in November 2006.
