Grand Prince Kirill of Russia (1876-1938), cousin of Tsar Nicholas II, pictured with his son Vladimir (1917-1992). Kirill married Princess Victoria Melita of Edinburgh (he was her second husband - a fact that shocked Russian society). They had three children, and Vladmir was born in exile in Finland in August 1917. In 1924, Kirill proclaimed himself, 'Emperor and Autocrat of all the Russias' but not all members of the surviving Russian royal family were prepared to support his claim.
