Page from The Sphere, a journal which took great interest in the expedition to the South Pole of Captain Scott, which gives a commentary on the disaster, and compares Scott's death in Antarctica to the loss of Sir John Franklin who died while exploring the North West Passage in June 1847. There is also a photograph of his widow Kathleen Bruce, together with their son, Peter (later the naturalist and ornathologist, Sir Peter Scott), as well facsimile excerpts of letters from Scott to the editor of "The Sphere" and a letter of thanks from Mrs Scott to The Sphere's diagrammatic artist.
