Ernest Battersby took a number of photogrpahs of employees at the family hatworks in Stockport, and noted their names as well. It is not specified which man is which, but the census record show that both worked as 'Plankers', partof the felt production process. In 1911 Walter Moult was aged 40, married with three children in Charles Street, Stockport, and in the same year James Fidler was 38, married but boarding alone at Buckingham Street, Stockport. This makes the men about 33 and 35 years old and they illustrate the clothing typical of a factory worker at the time.
