Beijing; into the late 1990's was still the 鈥楥apital of Bicycles' with the 鈥楺uietest rush hour in the world'! Today; cars dominate the streets. There were two metro lines. Commuters cycled to the metro stations where cycle parks were a common site around Beijing. Such parks were common at the metro stations around No 2 Ring Road which was followed by Beijing's early Circle Line.Bicycles were heavy with no gears. Beijing is flat and gears not necessary.
