Coloured satellite image of the parachute that helped to slow the descent of the Perseverance rover on Mars. Perseverance launched on 30th July 2020 aboard the Mars 2020 spacecraft, and landed successfully in Jezero Crater, Mars, on 18th February 2021. The rover will study the geology of Mars and search for signs of life. Image obtained by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) spacecraft on 19th February 2021.
