Duke of Edinburgh Unveils Raf Memorial At York Minster The Duke with members of York Corporation on their way to the cathedral. A memorial to fallen Royal Air Force officers and men was Unveiled by the Duke of Edinburgh Tuesday in the cathedral of York Minster, York. Before the memorial service the Duke visited the British Railways Carriage works near York station, escorted by the city's mayor, Alderman Fred Brown, who was employed at the works for 43 years. At the works the Duke met an old shipmate, 55-year-old Thomas Kay, a Royal Navy petty officer until two years ago. Said the Duke: "Good morning, Chief," and they talked of old times.
