Roy Speer, B.B.C. Man, Is Sent For Trial -- Ross Parker Says He Made Payments to Producer. Roy Speer, producer of the B.B.C.'s "Educating Archie" and "Starlight Hour" programmes, was sent for trial, on bail, from Bow-street to-day on four summonses under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1906. He was summoned under the name of Roy Francis Powys Malise Speer, of Pem-broke-square, Kensington. The summonses, each involving a sum of ?20, alleged that Speer " being an agent of the B.B.C., unlawfully obtained from Albert Rostron Parker - Ross Parker, the song writer-for himself a gift or consideration, as an inducement or reward, for forbearing to show disfavour in relation to the affairs of the corporation. December 13, 1950.
