Newark--Before The Lights Went Out Newark, N.J. - The city of Newark, New Jersey, was "Blacked Out" from 12:15 to 12:30 A.M. May 26 in a test simulating war-time conditions. Here is a general view of the city, taken from one of its tall buildings, while the normal complement of lights are still on. Seconds later all traffic was stopped and lights with the exception of those illuminating Penn Station and highway routes 25 and 29 and Raymond Blvd. Were extinguished. May 26, 1941.
