Out in the rain at Sandwich, Kent, Royal St. George's Golf Club, (Saturday 4th October) was the Duke of Windsor - playing with a 16 handicap in a field of 98. The Duke had a few practice strokes, dressed completely in waterproofs with a deerstalker hat. He told nearby photographers: "I'm no Bobby Locke, so you'd better watch out." Rain had stopped by the time the Duke began his game followed by two spectators. He went round in 97 for a net score of 81 which put him out of the running for any prizes in the club's autumn meeting. October 6, 1952. (Photo by Daily Mirror).
