Blistering caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection on the buttocks of a young Hispanic female patient. The blisters are teeming with virus particles and therefore extremely infectious. This infection can be caused by exposure to either HSV-1 (oral herpes) or HSV-2 (genital herpes) and is usually acquired through a break in the skin. Treatment is with antiviral drugs.
