Building started in 1900; opening of the unfinished church happened in 1902. Consacration was in 1950; final works were finished; in 1955. In 1995 and 1996; the apse of the church got a new mosaic called "Cammino verso il Redentore" ("walk to the Saviour"). The church with campanile (bell tower) was built in neo-renaissance and neo-Romanesque style.
