At the top of the stairs is a lady in front of a pavilion. The man is the Chinese emperor Gens?(Hs黙ng Tsung; 685-762) and the woman his favorite concubine Y鬹ihi (Yang Kuei-fei; 719-56). Here their encounter in the hereafter is depicted; Y鬹ihi was executed after she and her family gained too much power.
