The two legs; connected at the top by a heavy crossbar and a hood; lean forward and are held back by two braces and six stays. The legs are on a wall with a semicircular recess. The stages are attached to hooks in the ground with damper blocks; which are placed in an arc behind a working platform. The struts have slot-shaped tracks on the platform; in which they can be secured in several places. The platform covers an open shelter; and can be removed; making the lifting foundation visible. A wooden roll on the front edge of the platform and the man behind the platform probably helped to manipulate the round timber. The two hoists are driven by treadmills; one on each side.
