Silver. On oval foot with pearl decor; corresponding body with acanthus leaf and cloth drapery. On the side two grooved handles. Slip lid with base-like centre; large cone as finial. Obverse of the body as well as on top of the lid heraldic engraving with double-headed eagle. Ca. 1600g. Height (incl. lid) 19cm; width 22cm.
Inspection mark London 1775-76; maker's mark William Holmes (from 1776; Grimwade no.3161). Condition A/B. Enclosed: two sauce ladles. London. Sarah & John William Blake. 1809-10. Silver. Ca.104g.
