A comparable find in a children's grave in Kerch (Crimea) ensures its function. Usually; the discs bear on one side representations of gods; emperors; celebrities of the arena; buildings of Alexandria; etc; on the other side the Greek name and a number - Roman above; Greek below. The game was probably invented in Alexandria; then spread quickly; especially in the east of the Roman Empire; and can be traced back to the 3rd century AD.
